SARASOTA – Vendors from all over U.S. come from far and near to take part of the largest indie craft market in Sarasota.

“Look at me, where am I going to shop? Atomic Holiday Bazaar, I mean that’s why I started it. I needed a place to do my holiday shopping,” said Adrien Lucas.

Lucas founded the 14th Annual Atomic Holiday Bazaar to give quirky Suncoast residents a place to shop till they drop during the holiday season. Hundreds of people waited outside of the Municipal Auditorium for the doors to open, including Alicia Accardi who’s been a longtime customer of the craft market.

“The Atomic Holiday Bazaar is the best Christmas gig there is in Sarasota,” said Accardi. “It’s fun, it’s funky and it’s not you never know the kind of things you’re gonna see. This is not your mom’s craft fair.”

More than 220 interchangeable vendors sell their unique items over the course of the two day market, which spills into the street and the Bayfront Community Center. You’ll find everything from jewelry, paintings, and straight up bazaar items found nowhere else.

“It’s just a great show. It’s so fun to see people from so many different counties that celebrate doing things that are really different,” said owner of Je T’aime World Rebecca Shelley.

Shelley has been selling her handmade crafts, like masquerade masks, custom pocket watches and much more, at the indie craft market for the past seven years. She says she continues to come back because of the array of talent that can be found.

“The people that come are so nice in Sarasota and it’s just fun to be around so much creativity, it’s very energetic and very inspiring,” said Shelley.

Lucas says the indie craft market has something for everyone. From finding the ordinary to the not so ordinary the Atomic Bazaar has become the market to shop for your holiday season.

“It’s affordable and most of the things here are really handmade, and amusing and just run the gamut of beautiful to just hilarious,” said Lucas.

If you missed out of the bizarre fun on Saturday. The craft market is open on Sunday from 12-5 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door.
