NORTH PORT – The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County has identified a positive case of Hepatitis A in a food service worker in North Port.

The Department of Health determined on food service worker at the Beef ‘O Brady’s at 1037 Sumter Blvd may have been infectious.

Anyone who ate there between November 30 and December 6 should observe for signs and symptoms of Hepatitis A infection. The Sarasota Department of Health will be offering free Hep A vaccinations to previously not vaccinated patrons at their North Port Health Center at 6950 Outreach Way Saturday.

The hepatitis A vaccination is recommended for anyone who ate or drank at this restaurant between December 7th and December 20th.

Patrons  consumed food or beverage between November 30 and December 6 should instead observe for signs and symptoms of hepatitis A infection. This includes sudden onset of abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, dark urine, fever, diarrhea, pale white stools, or yellow skin and eyes (jaundice). 

If you experience any of those symptoms you’re suggested to seek medical help. If you’ve received the vaccination or a Hep A infection in the past, health officials say you are immune to the virus.
