SARASOTA – Second Chance Last Opportunity hosts its 24th Annual Hope for the Holidays event, providing Suncoast children with gifts.

“Christmas is a time of giving, it’s a time of loving, it’s a time of sharing, and that’s what Christmas is all about,” Brenda Davis Mcneal said.

Brenda Davis Mcneal is celebrating with her family and says she this event is a blessing.

“And to see all the kids get good gifts and be all excited about Christmas is a beautiful thing,” Mcneal said.

Suncoast businesses and donors collect toys to give away to children.

CEO and Founder of Second Chance Last Opportunity, Dr. April Glasco, says the goal is to put a smile on a child’s face.

“It’s making a difference in a child’s life and bonding that family together,” Dr. April Glasco said. “And hoping that they can all come together and be brought in a positive environment.”

More than 200 people attended. Dr. Glasco says, it’s all about giving hope to those individuals and letting them know have a second chance.

“I’ve received trains, books, clothing, football, basketball shoes,” Brenda’s Grandson, Jonah Abebe said. “I’m very thankful for Ms. April to give gifts to the children and I’m happy.”

But, it’s not just about putting a smile on a kid’s face with toys, but also for the families.

“It’s a help to me as a parent to give them more,” Mcneal said. “Maybe I can only do one or two things, but if they come out here and get one or two things, they have four things. So, I’m very happy to be here.”

Dr. Glasco also gives out Golden tickets to women at the event to win a free pair of shoes in the New Year.

“Brand new shoes, brand new you, brand new year,” Dr. Glasco said.

The shoe giveaway for the ladies will happen on Tuesday, January 7th all day long.
