Overnight crash closes both lanes of traffic on University Parkway

SARASOTA – The Sarasota Police Department is investigating an overnight crash that sent one person to the hospital.

The crash happened on University Parkway between Desoto and Old Bradenton Road just after midnight. The crash shut down both east and west bound lanes of traffic while crews investigated.

Officers say the driver was traveling west on University when they lost control crossed to other lanes of traffic before stopping in a ditch. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
