SARASOTA – Baseball season is upon us and Baltimore Orioles fans in Sarasota got a head start on purchasing spring training tickets.

Dozens of Orioles fans lined up at Ed Smith Stadium some as early as 4 a.m. to be the first in line and get their pick of games and seats for the upcoming training season. Tickets went on sale at 10 Saturday morning at the box office. William Hall and Jeff Olson have made a tradition of waking up early and getting their hands on season tickets.

“We’ve done this for I don’t know how many years in a row, but even though you can buy them online now it’s a lot of fun to come down here,” said Olson. “It’s the same people, it’s like a family and they give us coffee and donuts and we know all the Orioles people so it’s just a lot of fun.”

Season tickets are available online. The Orioles will play their first of 17 home games at Ed Smith Stadium on Sunday, February 23, at 1:05 p.m. against the Boston Red Sox.
