BRADENTON – For more than 20 years Turning Points in Bradenton has helped those living on the streets find housing, receive dental and medical care, and offers an array of programs to prevent homelessness, now they need your help.

After 11 years at their current location on 17th Ave W the non-profit is in need of a new roof. “We’re really looking for the community to step up. Love to have somebody who can do the whole thing, but anything that we get will help,” said Adell Erozer.

Erozer, Turning Points Executive Director, says her staff first started noticing water stains on ceiling tiles that eventually started to drip. After a close inspection, the roof was to blame after her staff found tiny pinhole like leaks that grow bigger every time it rains.

“These are starting to develop into larger leaks and it has been decided that we definitely need a new roof,” she said.

Erozer says dozens of leaks have started to appear in the medical and dental care waiting room and even in some examination rooms. She says the major leaks have been patched up but that’s not enough.

“So here’s is one of – an indication of one of the problems that we have with leaks,” Erozer shows the damage to SNN. “A small leak then turns into a big leak and it comes down and starts to be visible on our roof tiles.”

Erozer says they’ve set a goal of 40 thousand dollars to fix the roof and cover expenses to keep their programs up and running and continue to provide services that has helped so many across Manatee County.

“We’re definitely looking for help from the community to be able to keep this very safe and clean place for people to get their services,” said Erozer.

Erozer says she’s had grants denied to receive more funding to fix the roof themselves and they’re hoping the Suncoast is able to lend a helping hand.
