SARASOTA – Longboat Key officials ask Sarasota to put a pause on the Gulfstream roundabout construction.

The Herald-Tribune reports the Florida Department of Transportation has plans to turn the intersection of Gulfstream Avenue and U.S. 41 in Sarasota into a roundabout.

But, Longboat Key officials say there is already too much construction.

It’s causing headaches for the drivers.

Longboat Key Mayor, George Spoll, requested the city to reconsider and delay the start date.

Sarasota city manager, Tom Barwin, says he wants to work on a communication system to plan this traffic management in the future.
