SARASOTA – Suncoast seniors are feeling much lonelier amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The CDC recommends people to self–isolate themselves, especially the elderly population.

So, the Senior Friendship Centers is calling out to volunteers to help those feeling extra lonely during this time.

All it takes is a phone call.

CEO, Erin Mcleod, says they were founded on the principle that no one needs to be alone.

But she understands because they’re a vulnerable population.

“Right now, I think everybody is kind of just riding it out and trying to stay at a healthy distance,” Erin Mcleod said. “But that doesn’t mean that we can’t really get to somebody’s heart by giving them a call on the phone.”

Both volunteers and seniors can call (941) 556–3208.
