SARASOTA -Grocery stores aren’t the only place residents are flocking to in Florida.

Hundreds of beach-goers are deciding to ditch staying at home in quarantine and hit the number one beach in the country. The siesta Key beach parking lot had every spot filled as spring breakers brush coronavirus concerns for some fun in the sun.

Shannon Jarvis and Kyle Seefeldt are visiting from Wisconsin. They say they’re taking the necessary precautions amid the pandemic but couldn’t pass up taking in some fresh air at the beach.

“You know taking the necessary precautions like hand sanitizing, doing everything your mother told you to do as a kid still following those same rules,” said Seefeldt. “Wash your hands and do it for a period amount of time, 20 seconds or more, you know just doing that and you’re going to be okay. Don’t fret it too much.”

“Don’t want to let it stop your life, stop what you’re doing every day, don’t panic, try to enjoy everything,” adds Jarvis.

And expect to see the beaches crowed for some time. All public schools, universities and colleges in Florida have extended their Spring Break to two weeks to help stop the spread of coronavirus in the state.
