MIAMI – South Florida sizzles. A multitude of April records are broken in Miami. On Monday, Miami hit 97 degrees, breaking their previous all-time April record of 96 recently set in 2015. This is the seventh record high Miami tied or broke this month.
This is also the earliest Miami has hit 97 in recorded history. The previous earliest day record was May 28.
Miami recorded lows as warm as 80 not once, not twice, but three times this month. 80 is now the warmest low Miami recorded, breaking the previous record of 79, which means Miami tied or broke that record four times this month.
As of the publishing of this article, Miami has averages 82.2 degrees for the month when taking into account their highs and lows according to preliminary numbers from the National Weather Service. That’s 7.1 degrees above the average and would rank as Miami’s second hottest May on record had this been May.
The cold front that brought drier air to the Suncoast is moving through South Florida today. This will moderate temperatures this week in Miami.
