SARASOTA-MANATEE COUNTY (WSNN) – Suncoast art and cultural organizations come together to offer online resources for families and educators.

It’s called the Suncoast Arts REACH Task Force.

It’s made up of Organizations like the Van Wezel Foundation, the Ringling College of Art and Design, Mote Marine Lab, the schools, and more.

They’re offering online activity calendars ranging from videos on how to make a costume to museum tours, story time reading events, and virtual art lessons.

The Van Wezel foundation director of education and community engagement, Kelli Maldonado,  says the goal is to promote learning at home.

She says she wants to remind families not to think about what we can’t do because there is a lot of that right now.

“But think about what are we trying to do? How can we make it easy for families to access and to make use of? I think all of our meetings with this is idea of we are not in this alone, families are not in this along,” Maldonado said. “This is a chance for the arts to do what they do in that in-person experience, but at home as well.”

Maldonado says a submission form will be coming soon for other organizations or people who may want to submit content for the calendar. So, stay tuned.
