SARASOTA – Phase two of the Lift Station 87 project is quickly coming to an end, meaning drivers can expect some road closures.
Utilities Engineer Manager for the City of Sarasota Anthony Centurione says as the projects moves into the beginning stages of Phase Three the city has closed Osprey Ave. at the Hudson Bayou Bridge until early 2021.
Centurione says preparation for the station needs to be done in order to do utilities connection in order to divert waste water to the lift station.
“Lift Station 87 is going to be a great facility for the City of Sarasota. It’s going to handle a third of the waste-water of the city, including Sarasota Memorial Hospital,” said Centurione. “It’s going to be resilient, it’s going to be protected up to a category three storm surge and category five winds. So it’s going to be a resilient infrastructure for the City of Sarasota for years to come.”
The estimated $66 million project is set to be complete in March of 2021. For more information on road closures and the project visit liftstation87.com
