ENGLEWOOD, Fla. (SNN TV) – Tours of the historic Cookie House will begin soon in Charlotte County.

The Cookie House, located at 2300 Placida Road in Englewood, was built in 1931 as part of the Bass Biological Laboratory, which was the first full time marine station on the Florida mainland.

The Cookie House is the only surviving structure from that facility. It was relocated from its original site on New Point Comfort Road to Cedar Point Environmental Park in 2006 to ensure its permanent preservation.

The Cookie House will be open every Friday from Jan. 19 through March 29, as well as Saturday, Feb. 10 for Lemon Bay Fest. The only Friday it won’t be open is Jan. 26.

Its hours will be 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
