SARASOTA – The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the driver of a hit and run that left a bicyclist injured early Sunday morning.

The accident happened around 6 a.m. near the intersection of University Parkway and Lockwood Ridge Road.

Troopers say the unknown vehicle was driving westbound on University Parkway. When he struck a 38-year-old Sarasota resident who was in westbound bicycle lane.

The vehicle is described as utility truck. Investigators say the pedestrian was hit by the drivers left-side mirror leaving them with serious injuries. If anyone has information regarding this crash, you’re asked to contact FHP or Crimestoppers.
