LONGBOAT KEY – Suncoast Artist unveils “The Mask” to the Public on Monday in Longboat Key. The statue is in honor of the victims who have suffered from domestic violence.

Edward Miracle said he was inspired by a man who he saw crying on the side of the road over a young lady who had been a victim of domestic violence; and had been murdered in that exact spot.

Miracle said in the few moments he was there he felt a connection with that person, knowing he had a daughter who at the time was around the victim’s age.

“It has made a grown man cry, the people who know what that means, what that represents, they’ll see it and it’ll affect them, people who don’t feel don’t have a problem,” say Miracle.

Miracle says this is just the beginning, he says he hopes the sculpture will be seen by many on the Suncoast.
