NORTH PORT – Three suspects are in custody in North Port after police chase involving two stolen cars ends in a crash.

Officers were on scene near Plantation Blvd & Panacea Blvd when the crash happened just after 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon. That’s where one of the drivers fled on foot into a wooded area after the crash. They arrested one soon after.

Spokesman for North Police Department Josh Taylor said officers noticed the two vehicles driving fast down the road when they attempted to pull them over. The teens did not stop and soon after lost control and crashed.

The other two suspects were caught some time later. Taylor says an initial investigation determined all parties involved have been detained.

A transformer was struck by one of the stolen vehicles, which caused power outages. Stay with SNN for updates to this story.
