BRADENTON, Fla. (SNN TV) — The Bradenton Police Department is mourning the loss of one of their long-running crossing guards.

BPD posted on Facebook the death of Sandra Bacon, who served the city of Bradenton as a dedicated crossing guard for the past 13 years.

She helped students at Sugg Middle School get to and from school safely.

On the post, many residents posted condolences. One woman said she and her kids saw Bacon every morning.

Another said she didn’t see Sandra that morning and wondered if she was okay.

A woman who says she was her cousin posted, “I’m going to miss you cousin. I love you.”
