MANATEE COUNTY – The rain isn’t letting up anytime soon causing further delays to a road forced to shut closed down.
County employee Ogden Clark says high volumes of rain over a short period of time led to the closure of Morgan Johnson Road also known as 57th Ave East between 41st Ave East and 43rd Ave East Thursday evening.
Clark says the wing-wall under Morgan Johnson Road near Williams Creek had fallen into the canal below. Making unsafe for drivers to use the bridge.
“It’s a very popular cut through that connects State Road 70 to State Road 64. There’s a nearby school so with traffic starting Monday morning with school traffic and things like that,” said Clark. “There might be some planning and things we need to do here on our end to let folks know about the closures.”
Clark says the road will remain closed to traffic through Friday September 21st while the work is completed.
