SARASOTA COUNTY (WSNN) – It’s been quite a year, so on the last day of 2020, many are ready to say goodbye.  The Suncoast reflects.

“Of course, we now have the benefit of looking back and saying we have 2020 vision,” Sarasota Resident, Mary Hale said.

“One of the worst part was definitely the fear of the virus, the lockdown, and fear of having a loved one infected by it,” Sarasota Resident, Gregory Orquera said.

“One of the worst parts would be that my husband and I did have COVID early on,” Tourist from Ohio, Sue McGrath said.

“The inability to spend time with my children and my grandchildren,” Seasonal Resident from New York Janet Stoller said.

“Probably the biggest struggle through is just not seeing people’s faces and not being able to hug like we normally can,” Tourist from Ohio, Nicole Nelson said.

“I think the best part is that it got a lot of people closer, and it helped us realize that family and friends are very important,” Orquera said.

“I’ve learned to cook a lot more,” Tampa Resident, Margaret Hassani said.

“I would say the best part is living here most of the year in Sarasota where I’m able to get out and do my favorite things, mainly walking,” Stoller said.

“I’m looking forward to the opening up of the larger venues; the ballet, the symphony,” Hale said.

“I’m happy to say goodbye to zoom,” McGrath said. “I’m a school teacher in Cincinnati and I have been teaching remotely.”

“I’m looking forward to businesses opening back up,” Hassani said.

“Good health for everybody and hopefully we’ll get past COVID,” Michael Nelson said.

“Goodbye and good riddance 2020,” Hale said.

“Goodbye 2020, hello 2021,” Stoller said.

“Goodbye 2020, Happy New Year, we welcome 2020 with open arms,” McGrath said.

“Happy new year,” Noah Nelson said.
