TAMPA (WSNN) – Tampa Bay celebrates the Super Bowl LV Championship with a boat parade, Wednesday afternoon.
“I’ve been waiting my whole life, this is why you become a sports fan,” Shane Haversack said. “Look at how beautiful this is, you can’t beat it.”
Fans cheer, “TAMPA… BAY!”
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers celebrated their championship win like true pirates, on boats, parade-style. It began at 1:00 pm, making its way down the Hillsborough River, past several parks, before ending at the Port of Tampa.
“We tried to spread this one out a little more and loop this it back around Harbor Island, so that people have a variety of locations where they can watch it, and yet still have social distancing,” Tampa Chief of Police Brian Duran said.
Masks were required. But COVID-19 nor the Florida heat could stop fans from gathering in Tampa to cheer on their home team. Thousands were at Curtis Hixon Park
“We’re here Celebrating the fifty-fifth Lombardi Trophy here down the Hillsborough River,” Bucs fan, Ray Cavaso said. “Can’t get any better than that.”
Cavaso has been a fan for a long time. This is the Buccaneer’s second championship since 2003.
“I fell in love with a losing team, and now we’re winning and I got season tickets and I don’t want to be anywhere else but here in Tampa,” Cavaso said.
“2020 was tough man but this makes it just a little bit better,” Tampa Native Tony Tega said. “It’s like hitting the lottery man. I was born in TGH, so you know when you’re with someone through times.”
And we’re not only celebrating our Football team, but we’re also celebrating the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Rays, and even the Rowdies. We’re a title town.
“It feels good to know that our teams are winning,” Madalyn Mooney said.
A once in a life time experience for many. And it was a truly historical moment for Tampa Bay.
