This week marks the two year anniversary since Jabez Spann’s remains were found.; and his family is still searching for answers as to what happened to her son that fateful night.

A memorial stands at site where authorities found the remains of the missing Sarasota teen Jabez Spann back in 2019.

Now two years later no one has been arrested in connection to the murder or disappearance of Jabez.

“I hear people saying ‘oh it’s been two years already’ but this probably has been the longer two years then when he was actually missing.”

Two years without any new answers that’s how Jabez’s mom, Tawana Spann-Butler, describes it since the remains of her 14-year-old son were handed to her.

Though she founded the Jabez Spann Foundation to help others find their missing loved ones; she says her family feels stuck not having any information of what lead to her sons disappearance and murder.

“Not knowing the answer now has gotten even harder of then finding him.”

Spokeswoman for the Sarasota Police Department Genevieve Judge says no new leads have come forward.

But Jabez case remains active and a $50,000 reward still stands for anyone willing to come forward and help bring closure to the Spann family.

“We feel still very strongly that somebody in our community knows something that someone has that missing link to be able to close this case.”

Tawana says as time passes the pain of not knowing who and why anyone would do this to her son has become overpowering.

She says she no longer asks for closure for herself but rather wants somebody to come forward and help share Jabez’ story.

“Somebody has to tell his story of what happened to him that night. Something that went so wrong that stripped him of his future and deteriorated my family.”

Tawana says Jabez’s story will be told on the Investigation Discovery show Still a Mystery.

The date of when the episode will air has yet to be announced.
