Republican State Senator Joe Gruters is quarantining after his wife contracts COVID-19.

According to the Herald-Tribune, Gruters said he left the state Capitol on Tuesday after learning of Sydney Gruters’ diagnosis. Under guidelines followed by the state Senate, Gruters is expected to stay away from the Legislature until at least next week.

Gruters has legislation that would allow the state to collect sales taxes from all online vendors that was set to go before the full Senate today, but that’s expected to be postponed.

The Florida Capitol is largely closed to the public, and lawmakers are being tested and encouraged to keep a distance at meetings and wear masks.
