SARASOTA (WSNN) – The holy month of Ramadan has begun, and one Suncoast organization is giving back.

This is when Muslims observe fasting from dawn to sunset for 30 days.

For the 7th year,  the Islamic Society of Sarasota and Bradenton is collaborating with All Faiths Food Bank to host a drive-through food distribution.

It will be Friday through Sunday every week from 4-6 pm during Ramadan, held across the street from its Mosque at 3140 44th st Sarasota

“We want to help,” the Islamic Society of Sarasota and Bradenton Clergy, Mohamad Benkhaled said. “There are many people that are less fortunate, destitute, and we would like to help them and provide them with any help that is doable.”

And, you don’t have to be Muslim to participate, everyone is welcome to get food.

The first one starts this Friday. The distribution will have fresh veggies and fruits, meats, and canned food.
