SARASOTA – If your favorite restaurant takes its business on the go and brings the food to you then Friday is the best time to pay them a visit.

Shopping at the Bazaar on Apricot & Lime have just turned tasty… and mean a whole lot tastier.

After a tumultuous year many in the hospitality industry suffered after the coronavirus pandemic virtually shut down almost everything around the world. With local business owners being some of the hardest hit.

That’s why this year Roaming Hunger is helping promote National Food Truck Day on Friday.

“We love any excuse to have a reason to celebrate so it was a perfect one for national food truck day,” said Kim Livengood. “And we’re going to offer a free water ice with every entrée.”

Celebrating one successful year in business. Hamlet’s Eatery located at 821 Apricot Ave in Sarasota is bringing a delicious and healthy option to the Limelight District that’s quickly gaining popularity amongst locals.

But don’t take my word for it – the food trucks many awards speak for themselves. As for the reason for its popularity, well the answer lies in the tag line.

“So, our tag line is to meat or not to meat, said Livengood. “So, for every traditional item they make a vegan option.”

The idea came to Livengood’s business partner and co-owner Brad Bierman. After switching to a vegan lifestyle he found it difficult to find a place to grab a bite to eat while on the go that had vegan friendly options.

Having won the Herald’s Tribune award for Best Food Truck in Sarasota and Manatee County – Bierman credits the customers that supported the start up company amid the pandemic.

“It’s nice to have that support from the community, especially after the pandemic we really need the support now,” said Bierman.

And Bierman’s ultimate end goal for Hamlet’s Eatery is a simple one.

“It’s not about the money, it’s not about anything else,” said Bierman. It’s seeing someone smile when they bite [into] your food and come back and say ‘hey that was amazing, thank you.”

More than 30,000 food trucks across the U.S. and Canada plan to participate – to find what participating local food trucks are in your area check out Roaming Hunger.
