SARASOTA (WSNN) – Selby Gardens has a new flower in bloom, but it’s not one you’re going to want to stop and smell.

“Audrey” is Selby Garden’s, Corpse Plant. It’s blooming today and tomorrow, at the downtown Sarasota campus.

This plant is known for being the largest and smelliest flower in the world. It reeks of rotting flesh and bloated corpses, in an attempt to attract the flesh flies and carrion beetles which serve to pollinate it. it can grow to be 15 feet tall.

Since the flower’s bloom may only last through today, the downtown Sarasota campus will remain open until 7 p.m.
