JACKSONVILLE (SNN-TV) – A former Venice High School star and Super Bowl Champion, Trey Burton, worked out with the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier today.
The 29-year-old Burton, who played for Jaguars Head Coach Urban Meyer at the University of Florida in 2010, logged 13 games with the Indianapolis Colts last season and recorded 28 receptions for 250 yards, and three touchdowns. He also rushed for two scores.
Jacksonville is currently thin at the tight end spot with James O’Shaughnessy on injured reserve with an ankle issue.
Burton was a dual-threat Quarterback for the Indians, playing as the starter in 2007, 2008, and 2009 and was a first team all-state selection in ’08 and ’09. Trey’s brother, Clay Burton, was his teammate at both Venice and Florida, and is now on the coaching staff for John Peacock’s Indians.
