LAS VEGAS (SNN-TV) – Former Super Bowl Champion coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and current Las Vegas Raider head coach, Jon Gruden has informed the Raiders of his intentions to resign from his position.

The resign follows recent articles detailing the use of racist, homophobic and misogynistic terms by Jon Gruden in emails reportedly sent to former Washington Football Team president Bruce Allen between 2010 and 2018. The back-and-forth came before Gruden signed a 10-year, $100 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. .

Gruden’s anti-gay slur’s were directed at NFL commissioner Robert Goodell surrounding the Rams drafting of an openly gay player of Michael Sam.

The email appeared to show a complete disconnect from Gruden’s messaging when his own player Carl Nassib came out as gay before the start of the 2021 season and became the first active openly gay NFL player.

According to the emails, Gruden also denounced the emergence of female referees, protesting the national anthem, the Washington football team’s name change and celebrities and public figures like Caitlyn Jenner, Joe Biden and Barack Obama.

The emails were discovered and reviewed as part of an NFL workplace investigation into the Washington Football Team, thus allowing all the remarks to become public.
