WASHINGTON, D.C. (SNN-TV) – In there third game of the season, the Lightning were in the nation’s capital over the weekend taking on the Washington Capitals.

Steven Stamkos scored with 15 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 2-1 win against the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena on Saturday.

Mikhail Sergachev scored early in the third period to tie it, and Andrei Vasilevskiy made 32 saves for the Lightning. Tampa Bay killed four Washington power plays, including one in overtime.

In the loss, Alex Ovechkin scored his third goal of the season for the Capitals , and Vitek Vanecek made 22 saves.

The Lightning are back at home tomorrow night at 7 against in-state rivals the Florida Panthers.
