SARASOTA COUNTY (WSNN) – The jingle bells were ringing Saturday morning, as hundreds ran during one of Sarasota’s holiday traditions.

The Haven hosted its 24th annual Jingle &Jog 5K race at its location in Sarasota.

It’s a flagship fundraiser for this non-profit that offers programs and services for children, teens, and adults with disabilities.

Even while last year’s was virtual due to COVID, this race surpassed the 2019 numbers. More than 600 people ran into the holiday spirit while supporting the cause.

There were carolers, lots of food, and even some people dressed up as Santa Clause running in the race. Everyone was welcome including those in wheelchairs.

“More importantly, I think it helps reinforce our mission to see people with special abilities as what they’re able to do as opposed to what they’re not able to do,” The Haven’s director of mission engagement Hallie Peilet said.

“It was beyond incredible,” The Haven Client Brett Vorchheimer said. “I only got 21 minutes for a 5k, that’s not amazing. But, I always try my best, and that’s it. I always try my best, it’s always about will.”

‘Twas a fun and festive time for all. All the money raised during the race goes towards The Haven to help its clients reach their full potential.
