PITTSBURGH, PA (SNN-TV) – Ben Roethlisberger is retiring from the NFL after 18 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In a video posted on social media today, the 39-year-old quarterback said he is overwhelmed with gratitude for all the sport has given him. But he said it’s time to hang up his cleats and focus on being a husband and father.

Pittsburgh drafted Roethlisberger with the number 11 pick in 2004. Since then, he has led his team to 12 playoff games and eight AFC North championships. Big Ben also snagged two Super Bowl titles, including one when he was just 23 years old.

Roethlisberger finishes his career with the fifth most passing yards in NFL history, and eighth overall in touchdown passes.
