TALLAHASSEE (SNN-TV) – A former basketball star for the Braden River Lady Pirates is making history at the collegiate level in Tallahassee.

Florida State freshman guard, O’Mariah Gordon, is off to a hot start in her collegiate career.

Having recently been inserted into the starting lineup, Gordon became the first TRUE freshman to start at point guard for the Seminoles since Courtney Ward in 2007.

The Seminoles sit at 9-9 on the year, and in just over 18 minutes per game, Gordon is averaging 7.0 points-per-game on nearly 50% shooting, while adding three rebounds and three assists per game as well.

Gordon’s breakout performance came back on December 16th in a loss to the University of Houston, when she tallied 16 points, 5 assists, 4 steals and 3 rebounds.

In FSU’s match-up last night in Louisville against the 5th ranked Cardinals, Gordon finished with 8 points and 2 rebounds in 26 minutes.
