Student-Athlete of the Month: Henry Fioriglio, Riverview High School

Henry Fioriglio

SARASOTA (SNN-TV) – Riverview Rams senior defensive lineman, Henry Fioriglio personifies going above and beyond. Currently the owner of a mind boggling, 5.35 GPA, Henry has more than set himself up for success beyond high school.

Henry credits his parents for inspiring his academic pursuits, knowing he wouldn’t find himself in the position he’s in without them.

“If you do everything right in the classroom, even before football, you control your future. I really enjoy learning. I really enjoy school, and that’s something that they’ve definitely instilled in me. It gives me the opportunity to do whatever I want to do in life, and teaches whatever I do, go 100% at it.” – Henry Fioriglio

Being a senior leader for this Rams defense, head coach Josh Smithers knows he can count on Fioriglio in all aspects, both on and off the field. Whether its reigning in Ivy League interest or helping his teammates, Coach Smithers says Henry is the prototypical student-athlete every coach looks for, one that makes his job much easier.

“Anytime that you can model the things that maybe you talk about, or other coaches talk about, and you have a physical example it makes it easier to relay the message. He takes the most rigorous courses you can take here, never misses practice, never is late, understands time management, just a great example all-around of a student-athlete.” – Josh Smithers

Going 3-1 in their first 4 games, Henry has tallied one sack and 16 total tackles. A welcomed bye week awaits the Rams before they collide with Venice next Friday night on the road, in a highly anticipated district 14 matchup.
