SARASOTA – BMX Bikers from all across the world come to the Sarasota to race.
Sarasota BMX hosts local, state and national races on its very own Supercross track. This weekend, USA BMX hosts the Gator Nationals Race on this track.
Bikers race for points that go towards a national title.
Former Track official and current volunteer, Jeff Leto, says this event draws Olympians and Professionals with national titles.
“That’s one of the cool things about this sport; that these small kids actually get to race in the same race in the same facility on the same day as their idols, so it makes it pretty unique,” Jeff Leto said.
“I think it’s just really fun and its fun being out there on the track and having friends out there practicing with you,” 12 year-old intermediate racer, Owen Jones, said.
