SARASOTA – New information has been released about a fatal crash that closed Southbound lanes of U.S. 41 late Thursday night.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports a pedestrian was hit and killed by a car just after 9 p.m. while crossing the intersection of U.S. 41 and Livingstone Street. FHP says a Sedan being driven by a 77-year-old man from Venice struck the pedestrian as he was crossing the intersection on a marked crosswalk.
However troopers say at the time of the crash the pedestrian had a red crossing signal while the driver had the right of way.
The crash remains under investigation.
