U.S adds 467k jobs in January, jobs report revises previous two months up 700k

Despite the Omicron surge in January, the U.S. jobs market did not waver, crushing expectations with 467,000 jobs added for the month. And in more stunning news, the regular revisions for previous months were massive: 709,000 more jobs were created in November and December than previously reported.

Over the past 12 months, average hourly earnings have increased by 5.7 percent. And due to the increased labor participation, the unemployment rate went up a notch to 4.0% as more people are actively looking for work.
