SARASOTA – Thunder By The Bay’s Sporting Clay Tournament is back for its 8th year.

“We became involved in this several years ago, as just another way to get out and have some fun and raise money for the children’s charity,” said Road Captain of Fire and Iron Motorcycle Club, Chris Krajic.

Knights Trail Park in Nokomis will welcome shooters from across the Suncoast for the 8th annual sporting clay tournament Friday February 4th.

“They give you guns and ammunition and everything like that and you go out and shoot clay targets, it’s really for fun, they give you trophies at the end for the high scorers and things like that,” said Krajic.

Krajic serves as road captain of the Fire and Iron Motorcycle Club that was established in 1997

“The requirements are you have to be a firefighter, a retired firefighter, a paramedic or EMT and you have to own a motorcycle,” said Krajic.

The club participates in several charitable events, like Thunder by the Bay

“It’s just a way to keep active in the fire service, so to speak and it’s always nice to write a check at the end of the day and give it to a charitable organization,” said Krajic.

The Club raised $5,000 for Suncoast Charities for Children last year, and they encourage other groups to come shoot for a good cause including those they have some friendly competition with..

“Always against the law enforcement, said Krajic.

All proceeds from the event benefit Suncoast Charities for Children, who provide support to six local agencies serving children, teen, and adults with special needs.

Registration for the 8th Annual Sporting Clay Tournament begins at 9AM Friday, February 4th at Knights Trail Park in Nokomis. For more information you can visit Thunder By The Bay’s website here.
