ENGLEWOOD – The Great Mr. Swindle’s Traveling Peculiarium has been all over the world.

Co-Producer Allison Blei says it’s not your typical circus.

“I feel like it’s in a genre you can’t really pinpoint; people ask me to describe it and it’s hard to describe in just a few words,” Blei said. “It’s more of a turn of the century production, and inspired by P.T. Barnum.”

The 90-minute show features comedy, aerialists, and acrobats. Sian Espana has been running the German wheel for seven years.

“The only way to describe it, and the best way to describe it is floating,” Espana said. “It feels like you’re always being lifted, like you have no weight.”

The Peculiarium debuted last year in Englewood, where the cast and crew are from. This year they’re excited to extend their show on the Suncoast.

“Nobody knows that we’re here, they haven’t seen what we can do, and we decided, ‘Let’s bring it to our home town,'” Blei said.

She says it’s guaranteed to give you a thrill, and a laugh, all while giving back to the community.

“We’ve donated a portion of proceeds from the drinkory garden back to the Kiwanis club, which in turn goes to Lemon Bay High School in the form of scholarships,” Blei said.

The show plays Jan. 10 thru Feb. 26 in Englewood, Sarasota and Punta Gorda. For tickets, click here
