SARASOTA – This years Passover begins at sun-down Saturday night.

Passover is traditionally the story of the Jews being freed from slavery after 400 years in Egypt.

One of the elements of Passover is the Seder meal. Seder is the Hebrew word for order, which is how the extravagant meal plays out.

Those who celebrate, focus on teaching the history to the children.

Temple Emanu-El is celebrating virtually again this year, and with more hope.

“Last year when Passover came it was right at the start of the pandemic, we were all scared we were all feeling a sense of panic. This year we have a sense of community, a sense of comfort in the world of online, many of our members are vaccinated and are able to be with their families again and we are coming together virtually as a community with a different sense of hope this year,” said Rabbi Michael Shefrin of Temple Emanu-El.

Passover will end on Sunday April 4th.
