Taylor Walls grand slam lifts Rays over Yankees, 8-7

TB vs NYY

NEW YORK, NY (SNN-TV) – Taylor Walls continued his career revival yesterday as the Rays closed out their series in the Bronx with the New York Yankees. Walls hit a tie-breaking grand slam in the fifth inning and Tampa Bay beat the Yankees 8-7 for a four-game series split.

Walls fell a double shy of the cycle after going 3 for 15 in his first five games against New York. Major league-leading Tampa Bay is 4-3 against the Yankees, with six of the games decided by one run. The teams don’t meet again until July 31.

Up next for the Rays in the Empire State, they’ll face Justin Verlander tomorrow in the opener of a three-game series at the Mets. First pitch from Citi Field in Queens is set for 7:10pm.
