SARASOTA (WSNN) – A Historical moment for Pines of Sarasota as the Suncoast welcomes a new facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

After almost two years of construction, this 7-decade-old non-profit rehab and senior care community building is replacing several aging campuses.

It includes 90-rooms each with its own bathroom and shower. 20 of those rooms are a part of the memory care unit called the Hammocks.

This area was designed to keep memory loss residents safe. That’s why you see the different colored doors, and an indoor atrium and activity area.

“I think what’s so important is our mission has not changed,” Pines of Sarasota President/CEO Mike Ward said.

“Our mission 73-years-ago was to provide a home for those who have outlived their financial resources and it started off with a few cottages and it has grown over the years.”

You’ll also find a courtyard, kitchen, laundry, gym, hair salon, and even a theater.

This is the second phase of an overall campus transformation to better serve the healthcare needs of seniors in Sarasota.
