SARASOTA – Streets of Paradise , a local nonprofit that helps those living on the streets, is asking for food and water donations instead of returning your hurricane supplies to grocery stores.
Director of Operations Cathy Bryant says people living on the streets can benefit from these donated supplies as we are just entering the peak of hurricane season.
“If you are going to return items or don’t need them, these are the kind of items that people on the streets don’t have. This is the same exact things that you need during a hurricane are the things that they don’t have every day,” said Bryant. “So the water and non-perishables we would love to accept them, the donations of those things if you’re going to get rid of them.”
Bryant does encourage that you keep the items that can be stored at home for the remainder of the hurricane season, but any donations will be accepted. To donate items visit Streets of Paradise Inc. Facebook page.
