TAMPA (SNN-TV) – Steven Stamkos is the newest member of the 500-goal club. The Lightning captain scored his 500th career goal in the first period last night against the Vancouver Canucks and finished with a hat trick in the 5-2 win.
Stamkos joins Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby as the only active members of the 500-goal club. He’s the 47th player in NHL history to accomplish the feat and the only player to do so entirely in a Lightning uniform. Stamkos is the 47th player to reach 500 career goals and the 19th to accomplish the feat before playing in 1,000 games.
The Lightning are back in action tonight against the Edmonton Oilers at 9pm.
