SARASOTA, Fla. (SNN) — Sarasota–Bradenton International Airport is seeing record-breaking growth with over 4.3 million passengers coming through the airport just last year alone.
SRQ ranks No. 1 for the fastest-growing airport in the U.S.
“The community continues to grow at an exponentially rate, one of the fastest-growing communities in the United States. I think the other thing is as you get congestion on I-75, it is less convenient to go to other airports,” Rick Piccolo, president of SRQ said.
SRQ has increased their number of non-stop flights from 12 to 54 flights. To adjust to the increasing number of flyers, SRQ is expanding their terminal and parking lot.
Construction is expected to be finished by the end of January.
