SARASOTA – Second Chance Last Opportunity continues to help those in need on the Suncoast with a much needed shot in the arm.

For more than a year, Second Chance Last Opportunity has held weekly food and supply distributions, going above and beyond for those in Newtown.

This time around, the non-profit is working to defeat COVID.

“The Florida Emergency Management team is here from the state and they’re here and offering Johnson and Johnson vaccination and also Pfizer,” said Vaccine Clinic Coordinator, Sherrin Mapps.

Mapps says providing accessibility to the vaccine is key

“Bringing it to Newtown is definitely convenient for those that are not able to get to and from, that don’t have transportation, or just have a fear of leaving home due to COVID, hey we’re bringing it to them,” said Mapps.

The vaccine clinic went hand in hand with their weekly food distribution, and also providing education for those seeking.

“A lot of people know to come here Wednesday and Friday, so we can give them additional information that they may need about the vaccination, if they have concerns, if they have the why and the why not, and any important information that they may want to ask, we have our RN, and we have the state here to ask questions, and this is so important,” said CEO and Founder of Second Chance Last Opportunity, April Glasco.

Dr. April Glasco says we can all make a difference in our community if we come together and do it right.

“I had said earlier, a community that stays safe, we all stay healthy, and we all have to do it the right way, and now is the right way, to do it now,” said Dr. Glasco.
