SARASOTA – Clark Dean, the golden boy of rowing here on the Suncoast, competed in the Men’s Coxless Four in Tokyo tonight.

Paige and Jimmy dean were at Gecko’s on Fruitville Rd Tuesday night as they watched their son go for gold. SNN’s Alejandro Romero was at the watch party Tuesday evening.

The Sarasota Olympian may not have captured a medal in Men’s Rowing, but he is always a champion in his parents eyes.

Dean and Team USA fell short of bringing home a medal in the Men’s Four final in rowing; and while not being able to travel to Tokyo his friends and family made sure the hometown Olympian had some hometown support.

Gathering at Gecko’s Bar and Grill – they watched him fulfill his dreams of competing on such a grand stage.

“It’s so wonderful to see your children reach their goals,” said Jimmy. “Yes he would’ve loved to have brought a medal back but just being on that water with these other three guys and that boat. The experience is priceless.”

As for what’s next for Dean? His parents say the first time Olympian will now begin preparing and training for the 2024 Olympic games in Paris.
