SARASOTA – According to AAA 28% of deaths in car crashes occurring at intersections are the result of a driver running through a red light.

So Sarasota Police is reminding you how dangerous and deadly running a red light can be. National Stop on Red week kicks-off Sunday and runs through the entire week.

SPD will be sharing tips and facts all week in order for drivers to stay safe on the roadways and avoid these types of accidents. SPD says red light crashes are often caused by distracted or aggressive driving and is often preventable.
