SARASOTA – Sarasota Memorial Hospital is hosting a COVID-19 vaccination clinic.

SMH is using their own supply of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to administer at least 3,000 vaccines for those 65 and older.

The event is by appointment only, and all appointments have been filled.

The vaccines are administered by SMH clinical teams between Saturday and Sunday in the hospital auditorium.

“It was emotional, we’ve been living in our family bubble now since the end of March, and this is just the first positive step forward for us and we’re just so excited my wife is getting her shot tomorrow,” said Sarasota resident,  Aidan Farrell.

Reginald Irvine, from Osprey says he wants to be able to resume a normal life.

“This is the best way to do it, and I have no concerns about the vaccine, I’m much more about the disease, it’s been very efficient, seems like from the time I got out of the parking lot it has just been constant movement towards getting the vaccine,” said Osprey Resident, Reginald Irvine.

SMH plans to schedule a follow up event to administer a second does to everyone who receives a vaccination at this weekends event.
