SARASOTA COUNTY (SNN TV) – Sarasota County will receive $201.5 million from the federal government for continuing Hurricane Ian recovery.
According to the Herald-Tribune, the federal funding can be used to rebuild homes, fix damaged infrastructure, and assist business owners affected by Ian. The grant comes from the the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Sarasota is just one of four Florida counties named direct recipients of the funding, along with Lee, Volusia, and Orange counties. Florida is receiving over $910.6 million in grant money. County commissioners say they’re coming up with a plan on how to spend the money.
Before using the funds, the county has to conduct an unmet needs assessment and submit an action plan.
