SARASOTA – After months of searching, Jamie is finally back home with her family.
“At first I couldn’t believe it, at first I looked at all of the pictures for probably a good hour scanning over every detail, you know just making sure if those were the right spots on her chest, the coloring in her tail, and all the other things,” said Jamie’s Owner, Logan Riggleman
It all began on Friday right before the weekend, when the Humane Society of Sarasota County got a call from Riggleman
“A friend of his had sent him a link to our website of the dog’s profile, saying that he lost the dog a year ago and he really thinks that we have his dog and that he’d like to come and meet her to see if it really is her,” Adoption Counselor at the Humane Society of Sarasota County, Alyson Lutes.
Jamie came into the Humane Society of Sarasota from Sarasota County Animal services as a stray
“She was with us for about a month and she hadn’t garnered much of any interest from anybody so even to hear that someone was interested in meeting her at all was very exciting,” said Lutes.
Lutes says that at first, they were skeptical, but after the witnessing the dog’s reaction there was no doubt the dog belonged to him
“I went and saw her and the video is on Facebook of it, but what’s not shown is me going to my car and crying for twenty minutes before we left because I couldn’t take her with me,” said Riggleman.
Riggleman says he was unable to take the dog with him, due to his current situation of not being able to work
“A very nice kind soul decided to donate the money so I could take her home with us, I go the call a couple of days after the first meet and greet there and I went and picked her up,” said Riggleman.
Riggleman says that over time, he kind of lost hope thinking he was never going to see her again
“It was heartfelt, to say the least, I cried a little but more the second time around too cause how excited he was and we all cuddled up on the couch and watched some movies, she likes anything with a dog in it because when it barks she thinks it’s talking to her,” said Riggleman.
