Rays sign pitchers Corey Kluber, Brooks Raley

KLUBER

ST. PETERSBURG (SNN-TV) – Despite the season ending weeks ago, the MLB off-season hot stove is ablaze with several signings. The Rays bolstered their rotation and bullpen both yesterday and earlier today.

The defending AL East champ, Rays signed starter Corey Kluber and reliever Brooks Raley to deals in consecutive days.

Kluber’s deal is worth $8 million plus incentives, while Raley’s deal is for 2-years and is worth $10 million with a club-option.

After signing with the Yankees last offseason, Kluber posted a 3.83 ERA across 16 starts, and missed three months on the injured list with a right shoulder strain.

As for Raley, he was one of the top lefty relievers on the market this winter, with a strikeout rate that ranks 22nd among all relievers.

With Kluber, a former Cy Young winner, and Raley a master of spin-rate, the Rays seems to maintain their presence as a low risk, high reward franchise with their signings.
